Title sequence for Alien

The title sequence for Alien fits in with its genre sci-fi/horror as the title sequence is set out in space.
The title sequence includes the producers, executive producer, film creator, actors and actresses, conductor, director and lastly the title of the film.
The title slowly appears through out the title sequence with just parts of the letters coming up, then once all the other titles come up it finally appears all together at the end, this is effective as it creates a mysterious atmosphere that keeps the audience guessing throughout the sequence.
There is no sound as it is set in space, but there is an echo sounds through out the sequence so it is not completely silent, the echo noise could possibly be the sound of the engine of the space ship, that is revealed after the titles are up.

This creates a sense of abandonment and isolation as there are no living things on the screen or sound, this is not the norm as where ever you go you can hear noise even if its just the sound of a car or plane, instead of another living person.
When the camera focuses on the space ship where the film is mainly set, you can hear the echo of the engine which is the only man made product out there, this shows there could be people out there.
During the title sequence we are not yet introduced to any of the characters yet which contributes to the sense of loneliness, and also this builds up tension as the audiences awaits the arrival of the cast who will be in the film.
